Above is my STaR Chart Analysis for the Elementary School I currently work at. The STaR Chart requires campuses to rate themselves based on their use of technology. There are campus and individual teacher charts. Our other assignments for this course included creating a blog (which has been used throughout the entire program), and creating this wiki for a place to store all assignments and course refelctions.
In this course, I created a multi-media powerpoint presentation of a technology plan for my campus. This included the mission, goals, current technology, and short-term/long-term plans. Another assignment for this course was to write a paper about ideal classrooms in the future.
In this course, I did a Comprehensive Needs Assessment of my campus. This required me to evaluate the various Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) reports, and to select a target area of weakness. I then created a goal and objective for this target area. In the final action plan, I created an agenda for a one-day professional development that addresses the target weakness. Above is the fourth assingment: Action Planning and Personal Growth.
EDLD 5368-Instructional Design
In Instructional Design, I created an online course through Schoology. My course was called "All About Water." It was for 5th grade students, and the content included the water cycle, states of matter, and uses of water in a three week span. There was not a submitted assignment, as the professors were invited to the course and were able to access it there.
This was a very interesting course. We learned about the process it takes to create a web page and to design web pages. The above course embedded assignments include a Web Policy, which addresses various security, legal, and ethical issues in regards to internet use on elementary campus, a Memo to a Web Development Company, and a Project Definition. We were required to upload a podcast and a blog as well.
In this course, I developed my action research plan that I am implementing throughout the 2010-2011 school year on my campus. Above, you will find my plan, and a link to my "Action Research" blog.
EDLD 5363-Multimedia and Video Technology
This course was very fun and different. This was the first course in the program that required us to work in groups. Our main assignment was to create a Public Service Announcement. We created our PSA on Cyberbullying. We worked in groups, and had to figure out a way to meet and collaborate from different places across Texas. We uploaded the Pre-Production Document to Google Docs. We all were able to modify the assignment simultaniously, while chatting about our roles and responsibilities. We then decided times to meet twice a week in Google Docs. It was an excellent way to collaborate. Our PSA turned out great, we were all pleased with it. We learned a lot about video production, sound editing, and higher quality shots. Also in this course we had to create a one minute digital story about ourselves. Mine was about how to make my favorite snack, a PBJ.
Above are the assignments from weeks 2-4 of School Law. During these three weeks’ assignment, I was working with Joseph, a fictional middle school student enrolled at my school who requires an Individualized Education Program. I developed an IEP, monitored how his program was implemented in the classroom, and used my knowledge of student rights and school management to make sound decisions when he engaged in behavior that called for disciplinary action.
Above are the three main assignments from Digital Graphics and Desktop Publishing. The first few weeks we learned about the elements of design (contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity). The Week 2 Assignment is a personal logo I created in a program called "Comic LIfe." The next week, I designed a newsletter that incorporated my logo and the elements of design. And the final assignment, which I found to be the most fun and addicting, was creating an animation. I created my animation using Styx, and you can click the link above to take you to the page on my wiki that is housing my simple, yet comical animation about volleyball.
These are my submitted assignments for weeks 1-4 of Human Resource Management. This course was dealt with the ways school leaders handle conflict, hire staff, fire staff, and the laws and codes of conduct for personnel. Many parts of my assignments involved interviewing the school leaders of my campus.
EDLD 5364-Teaching With Technology
As a campus professional development activity, create a wiki-based study group with 3-5 teachers, leading and supporting, who analyze data related to student learning, create a lesson using Universal Design for Learning at the CAST Lesson Builder http://lessonbuilder.cast.org, create a sample electronic book to share with your learning team members. Lastly add a team reflection to your Google site about the process of creating an electronic book. Share a blog/wiki reference document/site.
